Lesser Known OS X Keyboard Shortcuts
Came across this link a couple of weeks back and loved it. After reading, I realized there were a few mistakes I was making in my writing that I should correct. So I added a note to Yojimbo and jotted down some keyboard shortcuts I was not aware of for OS X.
Here’s what I kept:
Key Combo | Special Character |
---|---|
alt + [ | Left double curly quotes - “ |
alt + shift + [ | Right double curly quotes - ” |
alt + ] | Left single curly quote – ‘ |
alt + shift + ] | Right single curly quote – ’ |
alt + shift + 8 | Degree symbol – ° |
alt + - | EN dash – – |
alt + shift + - | EM dash – — |
alt + ; | Ellipsis – … |
Dearest to my heart are the dashes and the ellipsis. Give the entire post a read for the proper usage of each typographic character mentioned.
